HOW WILL YOU RISE IN THIS CHALLENGE?

Wow! Crazy times. Two of the greatest anxiety producers for many people are change and uncertainty. We are all sitting with these feelings at a level we could not have ever imagined just a few weeks ago. We’re all spinning, forced to change the ways we work, eat, socialize, and exercise.

For some it is more than just an interruption – it is the very real loss of loved ones or security. As challenging as these uncertainties are, they can also be opportunities for discovering capacities, interests, and ideas. Companies moved within weeks from manufacturing shoes to face masks, lacrosse helmets to face shields, and outerwear to hospital scrubs. We all have the capacity to do things we never imagined were possible.

During the past few weeks Sonia and I have spent considerable hours talking with clients and candidates about how we can best assist them during this time. This newsletter is part of our effort to support and connect as we all process the transition from the life we knew before to the life we are living now.

In our search practice, we have shifted to help our clients consider what will emerge as new definitions and imperatives around critical thinking and crisis management skills. How their operations will change and, what will be required as brands seek to emerge stronger, more nimble and more efficient.

In my coaching practice, I am supporting leaders through the anxiety and grief that come with difficult business decisions that impact so many lives. I have listened as they share vulnerabilities and fears they have never faced before. I’ve been left with the same impression time and again: Challenges like this can bring out the very best in us if we have the courage to allow them to do so.

We would love to hear from you on how this experience is changing you, especially in good ways. Who will you emerge as and how will you rise from this moment? If the positives don’t immediately come to mind, think about it, the answer is there. In the meantime, if you need a bit of levity – make sure you check out the latest edition of Some Good News. Another great example of how change creates innovation and can bring out the best in people.

Stay well,

Paula
