Paula has gotten to know Jeff over his many years in the shoe industry. In this conversation, Paula asks Jeff how he has benefited from having a varied career and what has gotten him through the challenging times.

Jeff’s advice is to get comfortable being uncomfortable, because it is how you grow. This is a critical skill in our rapidly changing world and Jeff tells us how he has managed to do that by staying humble, and not being afraid to ask questions.

About Jeff

Jeff Thompson is a highly respected footwear executive, having led teams across all aspects of the product creation process. Currently based in Vietnam, Jeff is the VP Product Operations for the Merrel division of Wolverine Worldwide. Prior to joining Wolverine, Jeff’s career included a 22-year tenure at Timberland. A trained Industrial Designer, before being recruited into the footwear industry for a role at Converse, Jeff was a toy designer with Hasbro and the inspiration for the GI Joe action figure “Blastoff.” A triathlete and avid Mountain Biker, when not based in Vietnam, Jeff calls “home” the seacoast of New Hampshire where he raised his daughters with his wife, Debbie.
